“Super Me” Video Game Launch Party
CLIENT: Chance the Rapper + Code with Google
ROLE: Art director, designer
The Brief:
Create a celebratory event during Computer Science Education Week to applaud the hard work of Chicago students who completed coding projects through Code with Google and SocialWorks. Unbeknownst to the students, their visuals would be combined into the official video game for Chance the Rapper and DJ Khaled’s song “I Love You So Much.”
Our Insight:
To inspire more kids to pursue coding, we need to change their perception of it. Many view computer science as an isolating, math-heavy, or boring activity. Our event will emphasize the positive, fun experience the students had during the program and highlight how the new skills they’ve learned can enhance their personal interests—making coding both accessible and enjoyable.
The Solution:
In addition to creating a vibrant celebration to honor the students' achievements, we’ll reinforce the message that coding and creativity can go hand-in-hand. The event activations will bridge the gap between science and art, showing kids how coding can be a tool for expressing their unique identities and passions.
We’ve designed interactive activations to inspire students to continue developing their coding skills, whether in music, art, or other creative outlets. The space is built for fun and exploration, allowing them to discover the power of code within music—sparking curiosity that they can continue to explore long after the event.
To bring our theme to life, we developed a visual identity that was both colorful and celebratory, with design elements that rung true to Google’s playful, modern sophistication while also being considerate to the young audience. We’ll create an organic overall look and feel that is in alignment with the music video and appropriate for middle schoolers, leveraging their artwork and animations throughout the space.
Visual Identity
Leveraging both the Google brand colors and their shading we have created a brush palette inspired by the marker drawings of the students artwork We re-created their drawings as well as elements from their video game to create a visual identity that marries both the organic hand-drawn emotion as well as the clean sophistication of the Google brand.
