Amazon has set out to help end childhood cancer through its Amazon Goes Gold initiative, a cause in which many employees have been impacted. As part of the three-year initiative to raise awareness of childhood cancer, we designed a Camp Amazon experience for kids and families at St. Jude to connect with affected employees and learn more about Amazon Robotics and STEM activities. Advoc8 gave kids a special look into the technology and innovation working inside the fulfillment centers by building a box maze, robotics station, as well as invited them to “ship” out their lunch orders in custom-designed boxes.
I was the lead art director and designer for this project – giving direction to fabricators, other designers, and sketch artists as well as leading client communications and conceptual direction.

Activation one
Stand-Up Stretch Zone
Mirroring Amazonian employees initial stand-ups at the beginning of a shift we created an accessible and fun yoga series for the kids to partake in while getting excited for the following activities.
Illustrations of the Amazon robot in various yoga poses to as visual representations of the poses in the yoga series.
ACTIVATION TWO
Robotics Lab
Children were able to learn from an Amazonian engineer about the robots that are used for fulfillment and packaging from how they’re built to their usage. Additionally they were given STEM kits that they were able to explore and discover with an Amazonian volunteer.
ACTIVATION THREE
Fort Leadership
After learning about robotics, children were then able to head over to Fort Leadership, a castle built from Amazon boxes that had fun facts about Amazon center on the walls for them to learn more about the centers while exploring the Fort built out of boxes.
Boxes had custom-made and designed tape branded for the event.
ACTIVATION FOUR
SLAM Station
After hanging out in the Fort, children were then guided over towards the SLAM station where they would decorate a shipping label and pick out their lunch orders. They were able to rummage through the bins like an Amazonian employee would to find the stickers and items they’d like to decorate the box with.
ACTIVATION FIVE
Conveyor Belt Luncheon
After decorating their box to their satisfaction they were able to take it to the conveyor belt where their order would be read and their lunch would be served in the box along with their additional swag items.
